It’s the end of the season at the Amundsen-Scott Base in Antarctica and US Marshal Carrie Stetko is getting ready to head back to Miami after two years being stationed at the centre. Just days before her departure and the onset of the first winter storm, a body is found in the icy tundra. Stetko quickly sets up investigating the death, when she is joined by United Nations special envoy Robert Pryce to assist in the case. Pryce’s motives seem dubious, but Stetko has no choice but to trust him and forge on with the investigation, which leads them both down a convoluted path with more than meets the eye.
