Father Burke, a priest with a haunted past, and new initiate Sister Irene are sent by the Vatican to a cloistered abbey in Romania to investigate the suicide of Sister Victoria. Once there, they uncover an ancient evil in the form of a demonic nun which made its first appearance in The Conjuring 2. Father Burke and Sister Victoria prepare for an exorcism that will test their souls as they seek to cleanse the abbey.
