This instalment of LEGO’s Hollywood franchise follows a fledgling band of ninjas led by the fearless Lloyd Garmadon. By day they’re a nerdy bunch of high schoolers that get bullied, while at night they transform into their stealthy alter egos, each with a different elemental power. Lloyd’s dad, the evil Lord Garmadon a.k.a. ‘The Worst Guy Ever’, keeps attacking their hometown of Ninjago, and it falls on Lloyd and his team to protect the town and its inhabitants. Cue frenzied battle scenes, witty exchanges between mentor Master Wu and the ninja gang, and an ever-changing father-and-son dynamic between Lloyd and Garmadon that forms the backbone of the movie.
